Betty Louise West April 29, 1935 - August 20, 2018

Betty Louise (Speer) West, 83 of the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, Missouri, formerly of Lancaster, Missouri, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

Born on April 29, 1935 in Schuyler County, Missouri, she was the daughter of Wilbur Dee and Nola LaVonne (Aeschliman) Speer. On July 20, 1952 at her parents’ home in rural Schuyler County, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Bennet West, Jr. and to this union three children were born, James Douglas (Jim), John David and Kathleen Ann (Kathy).

Betty is survived by her husband, Bennet West of Queen City, Missouri; children, John West and wife, Judy of Lancaster, Missouri and Kathy Miller and husband, Ron of Oskaloosa, Iowa; one daughter-in-law, Annette West of Newton, Iowa; grandchildren, Angela Carolan and Jennifer Hartman of Earlham, Iowa, Martha Bertsch and husband, Cory St. Joseph, Michigan, Chris West and Kristina Miller of Lancaster, Missouri, Kimberly Boyd and husband, Kevin of Farmington, Minnesota, Kirk West and wife, Alisha of Lancaster, Missouri, Cale Brimer and wife, Lacy of Downing, Missouri and Amanda Brimer and Anthony Lutz of Glenwood, Missouri; great grandchildren, Sara and Christian Carolan, Jameson and Arabella Bertsch, Chelsea and Marcus Miller, Mikel and Chase West, Peyton, Owen and Quinn Boyd, Jaxson West, Kinley Walter, Calain and Bentlee Brimer, Alex, Eliese and Anna Steel; three step grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; two sisters, Sharolyn Kirby and husband, Wayne of Mattoon, Illinois and Mary Aylward and husband, Earl of Jackson, Minnesota; nieces and nephews and other family members.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents and one son, James Douglas (Jim) West.

Betty was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church and had been for a number of years. Betty’s life was devoted to her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were the twinkle in her eye and she loved spending time with them.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lancaster Christian Church in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith assisted by Billy Wallace, Pastor of the Lancaster Christian Church officiating. Music will be provided by Twila Anderson, pianist and Cole Tippett, soloist with special selections of “Sweet Hour of Prayer” and “Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus”. Pallbearers will be Chris West, Kirk West, Kevin Boyd, Cale Brimer, Cory Bertsch and Damian Antal. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri.
