Helen Hedrick, age 90, of Brookfield, died Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield.

Funeral services will be Sunday, August 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield with Mandy Wiedeman officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Brookfield. Visitation will begin Saturday, August 18, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 in the evening at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield.

Helen Grace, daughter of Charley Lee and Helen Marie (Lynch) Cooper, was born March 15, 1928, in Chillicothe. On December 14, 1946, she married Eugene Hedrick who preceded her in death on September 5, 2011.

Helen worked as a crimper for Brown Shoe Factory in Brookfield. She was a member of the Auxiliary of the United Transportation Union and enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family. Helen also enjoyed cooking and baking pies for Hazel’s Café in Brookfield for many years.

Helen always put others before herself. She was always laughing and lived by her personal moto, “Hey, it’s better to laugh than to cry”.

Survivors include her five children, Eugene Hedrick, Jr. and wife, Judy of LaPorte, Texas, Brenda Johnson, Kay Ostermann and husband, John and Donald Hedrick and wife, Rhonda all of Brookfield, and Ronald Hedrick of Columbia; eleven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Charlene Babb of Plano, Texas; one brother, Charley L. Cooper, Jr. and wife, Barbara of St. Ann; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Her parents; one daughter, Marilyn Hedrick; one sister, Margaret McNeil; two brothers-in-law, Paul McNeil and Coy Babb; one brother, John Cooper; and sister-in-law Phyllis Cooper also preceded her in death.
