Donald "Doc" McCollum AUGUST 10, 1925 ~ AUGUST 10, 2018 (AGE 93)

Donald Lee "Doc" McCollum, of Milan, MO, passed away on his 93rd birthday, August 10, 2018, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia, MO. The only child of Ralph and Euliva (Arnold) McCollum, he was born on August 10, 1925, in Linn County, MO. On October 24, 1948, in Milan, he married Lola Kitelle Bunch, who preceded him in death on January 7, 2005.

Survivors include two daughters, Reta Maggart, of Georgetown, TX, and Donna Parker, of Columbia,

MO; eight grandchildren, Jamie (Matt) Svuba, Ashley (John) Tanner, Logan (Tasha) Maggart, Callen (Clayton) Rollins, Tanner (fiancee Christy) Maggart, Nick (Kaycee) Parker, Trevor (Natasha) Parker, and Charity (Patrick) Hatcher; and fourteen great grandchildren, Kate and Cole Svuba, Evan and HaBin Tanner, Weston Maggart, Reagan and James Rollins, Addison Maggart, Elle and Caleb Parker, Jonah and Adelyn Parker, and Makenzie and Maddie Hatcher; and numerous friends.

Donald worked for MoDOT as a motor grader operator for 32 years, retiring in 1988. After one year of retirement, he worked for Polk Township as a motor grader operator for 11 years. He lived most of his life in Linn and Sullivan counties until moving to Columbia, MO, in February 2014, due to failing health. Donald never met a stranger. He made his daily rounds around the square, and spent countless hours visiting with people. He loved his family and enjoyed bragging about his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 18, at Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery southeast of Milan. Visitation will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m.
