Karl Byers August 26, 1936 - July 17, 2018
Karl Byers, age 81 of rural Atlanta, MO passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Loch Haven Senior Living Community in Macon, MO.
Karl was born on August 26, 1936 in New Orleans, Louisiana a son of Thomas Carl and Doretha (Rogers) Byers, Sr. On July 20, 1968 in Atlanta, MO he was united in marriage to Roberta Marsh, who survives. Karl is also survived by 2 daughters and 1 son: Theresa Rundberg and Tammy (Michael) Grayson and son, Chris (Jennifer) Byers, all of Kansas City, MO; 4 grandchildren, 2 step-granddaughters, 2 great-grandchildren; 1 brother: Eugene Byers of Louisiana; 2 sisters: Irma Holden of Louisiana and Helen Levetino of Mississippi; an aunt: Lillie Mae Rogers of Louisiana; other relatives and friends.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Thomas Carl Byers, Jr.
Karl was a graduate of Covington High School and served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1958. He lived most of his adult life in the Kansas City area where he worked as a warehouse foreman at two paper companies and retired from Smith-Corona in 1993. In 1997 they moved to rural Atlanta to make their home.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Elliott Funeral Home in Atlanta and the family will greet friends from 10 a.m.
Monday until the time of service. Burial with full military honors will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.
