Winfred Ross Laird (Sep 12, 1943 - Jul 07, 2018)

Winfred Ross Laird, age 74, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Born on September 12, 1943 in Kirksville, Missouri, he was the son of Max C. and Grace L. (Bragg) Laird. On June 2, 1972 he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Duff, who preceded him in death on April 19, 1996.

Also preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Harry Paul Laird and two grandsons, Kirk Richard Duff and Ethan Brown.

Survivors include one son, Richard Duff of Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters, Tonnie Brown and husband, Joe of East Moline, Illinois and Becky Lenon and husband, Scott of Columbia, Missouri; one brother, Ralph Laird and wife, Kate of La Plata, Missouri; one sister, Judy Coy of La Plata, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Aaron Brown, Sara Bullock, Sammie Jeffcoat, Skyler Jeffcoat, Tyson Duff, Derrick Duff and RJ Duff; five great-grandchildren; companian, Carol Jonusz of La Plata, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Fred was a graduate of Brashear High School with the class of 1962. He served in the United States Navy from May 18, 1964 to May 17, 1970. Fred was owner/operator of Laird Trucking and later drove for Bangert Trucking of La Plata. He and CJ loved their time in Florida through the winter months at the KOA Campground in Okeechobee and the The Glades Resort in Moore Haven, FL, he was a St. Louis Cardnial fan, an avid gardener, enjoyed the outdoors, visiting with friends and family and enjoyed riding his UTV.

Services will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. The body has been cremated.

Inurnment with Military Honors will follow at the La Plata Cemetery, La Plata, Missouri.
