Suzanne Kay Gold, 77 of Moberly, passed away Monday, June 18, 2018 at her home. She was born June 26, 1940 in Clarinda, IA to Russell Mackoy and Shirley Spencer Mackoy.

Suzanne was a graduate of Westboro, MO high school. She got her B. A. at Tarkio College and then graduated from Northwest Missouri State with a Masters Degree in Special Education. She was a school teacher for 40 years in Alaska, Missouri and North Dakota. In her retirement Suzanne was a CASA volunteer, tutored at Jump Start and helped with GED Prep classes at MACC. She was a great teacher in part, because she truly enjoyed getting to know people and helping them. Suzanne was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She was a member of the Jacksonville #170 Order of the Eastern Star. Flower gardening, traveling and reading were her favorite hobbies and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Those preceding her in death are her parents; her brother, Spencer Mackoy and beloved son, Scott Andrew Gold.

Survivors include her children, Elizabeth Gold and husband Gerrit Van der Hoogt of Fayette, MO and Julie Gold and husband Chris Kyle of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Alexandra Kyle of Seattle, WA and Spencer Kyle of Birmingham, AL; siblings, James Mackoy of Moberly, Craig Mackoy of Sioux Falls, SD, Debby Mackoy and husband Max Frankum of Plano, TX and Becky Mackoy of Burke, VA; extended family and close friends.

Services celebrating Suzanne’s life will be held Friday, July 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. There will be a private inurnment at a later date. Memorial contributions are appreciated to the Salvation Army, 927 Jefferson Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
