Ella Mae (Schrage) Lewis 83 of Gibbs, MO passed away Wednesday (June 3, 2018) at her home.

The daughter of Chester and Margaret (Durtche) Schrage, she was born March 15, 1935 in Hardin, Montana. On October 11, 1958 in LaPlata, MO she was united in marriage to Robert F. Lewis.

Ella is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bob; four children, Robert F. Lewis Jr. of Kirksville, Donald Ray Lewis and wife Jane of Kirksville, James Richard Lewis of Harrisburg, MO and Kathleen Kay Cavanaugh and husband Tom of Overland Park, KS; 14 grandchildren, Travis, Hilary, Joe, Jason, Donnie, Robbie, Jocelyn, Chelsea, James, Jonathan, Ashton, Lauren, Brandon, and Tommy; 2 great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Bentley; two sisters, Barbara Weber and Charlotte Holt and husband Joe both of Kirksville; one sister-in-law, Ruth Schrage of Edina, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant brother, Chester C. Schrage Jr; and one nephew in infancy, Robert C. Bachman.

Ella received her education from Brashear High School, graduating with the class of 1953. She took classes with the U.S. Postal Service. She worked side by side with her husband on the Dairy Farm and did any and all work that needed to be done. She retired in 1999. She served on the rural water board for 20 years, serving as President for 10 of those years.

She was a member of the Brashear Community Bible Church. She enjoyed playing piano, spending time with her family, driving the tractor, canning, gardening, watching westerns and working with her dogs. She was a devoted wife and mother and will be sorely missed.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday (June 15, 2018) at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (June 16, 2018) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.

Pall bearers will be Travis Lewis, James Lewis, Donnie Lewis, Jonathan Lewis, Brandon Jeffries, and Robbie Lewis.

In lieu of flowers for Ella, donations are suggested to the Paultown Cemetery which may be left or sent to the funeral home.
