Lloyd A. “Swifty” Cross, 84, of Moberly, died Friday, May 18, 2018, at University Hospital in Columbia. Lloyd was born May 16, 1934, in Moberly, to Leslie and Augusta “Gussie” Cross.

He served in the United States Air Force for 20 years. The latter years were during the Vietnam War; retiring as a Master Sergeant. Lloyd then worked at Richards Gebaur Air Force Base, and his last job was delivering prescriptions for Kribbs Family Pharmacy.

He married Helen Watson on April 20, 1975 in Moberly, and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Anthony Lloyd Cross and wife Dawn of Ft. Madison, IA, Tracy Zane Cross and wife Claire of Austin TX, Gayla Rae Cross of Memphis, TN; six grandchildren, Jamie, Zachary who is serving in the United States Air Force, Taylor, Samuel who is serving in the ROTC, Wesley, and Shawn; three step-children, Pamela Ugolini and husband Mike of Bevier, Michael Ryan Wright and wife Donna of Moberly, Terri Renee Henderson and husband Keith of Kountze, TX; a half-sister Connie Stockton and husband Jim of Moberly; other relatives and friends.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and two half brothers Rodney Cross and Mickey Sires.

Lloyd was very proud of serving his country. He loved to put together puzzles and would frame them for safe keeping. He loved to write poems and had received commendations for several of them, and was a big supporter of animals and had helped the local Moberly Animal Shelter numerous times.

Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at the visitation which will be Monday, May 21, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Cater Funeral Home, with services honoring and celebrating Lloyd’s at 12:00 noon. Committal prayers, military honors and burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
