Marvin Lewis Wood passed away peacefully Thursday morning, May 17, 2018. He lived in Monroe County most of his life and moved to Shelby County in 1995.

Marvin is the son of the late Elmer L. and Susanna R. Jarboe-Wood. He married Bonnie (Baldwin) Wood on November 30, 1973. He has a daughter, Robin Sue (Wood) Gregg, son-in-law, Jimmy Lee Gregg, and three grandsons; Eli Shores, Wyatt Shores, and Westin Shores. One brother survives, Paul Wood and his wife, Mary, one sister-in-law, Nancy Wood; and one brother-in-law, Porter L. Baldwin.

Marvin has four deceased brothers, Roland, Roscoe, Leon, Truman; one sister, Oreta Nothnagle; and an infant son, Steven Lewis.

Marvin graduated from Shelbina High School in 1950. He served in the Air Force for four years with the National Defense and during the Korean Conflict. He served two years in Matagorda Island, Texas and two years in Japan at Nagoya Air Force Base. Marvin received Korean Conflict Honors for Good Conduct, National Defense, Korean Service, and United Nations metals. He retired as a self employed Farmer after 40 years in 1995.

Marvin was a member of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post 8177 for 51 years, Shelbina American Legion Post 376 for 60 years, Member of the Fifth Air Force, Missouri Farmers Association, Jaycee President and District Vice President, Chairman of National Farmers Organization, Masonic Lodge 228, Worshipful Master in 1973, served in the Veteran’s Honor Guard and Firing Squad-21 Gun Salute for several years, and was the Executive Officer on the Board of Monroe County Farmers Mutual of Paris, MO.

Marvin enjoyed farming, eagles, dancing, traveling, gardening, mowing yard, putting puzzles together, and being with his family, especially his daughter and three grandsons.

Marvin was a member and deacon at Granville Christian Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO, with burial following the service in the Shelbina Cemetery. A visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5pm to 7pm at the funeral home.
