Marjorie Pitney, 87, of Moberly, died Saturday, May 12, 2018, at her home. She was born June 10, 1930 in Moberly to William Jennings Bryan Naylor and Alver Alliene (Baker) Naylor.

Marjorie resided in the Renick area until her family moved to Moberly when she was a teenager. Prior to retirement she worked at Brown Shoe Company, Mears Drug Store and Little Dixie Café. In 1963 she became bookkeeper for the family’s auction service.

Marjorie married Edgar Pitney on December 24, 1949 and he preceded her in death on July 20, 1987. Also preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters, Alliene Kimbrough and Evelyn Cox and a brother Paul “Bud” Naylor.

Survivors include her children, Becky Kendrick and her husband Tom and Tim Pitney and his wife Beth all of Moberly, five grandchildren, Matthew Kendrick and his wife Nikki, Heather Kirkendoll and her husband Luke, Nicholas Hecks and his wife Pam, Katie Robb and her husband Derrek and Noah Pitney, eight great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Jeanette Naylor of Kansas City, MO, long time friend, Leon Chapman, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marjorie was a faithful member of the West Park Methodist Church for 75 years. She was also a member of the Eagles, the Moose and VFW Auxiliary.

Marjorie enjoyed dancing and playing cards and games with her many friends and family.

Memorial contributions to the West Park Methodist Church would be appreciated.

Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at the visitation, which will be, Tuesday, May 15, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with an Eagles Service at 6:30 p.m. at the Cater Funeral Home. Services honoring and celebrating Marjorie’s life will be Wednesday, May 16,11:00 a.m. at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery.
