Donald Lee Shouse, age 83, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 at his home near Bethel, Missouri. Donald was born in Bethel, Missouri, on June 3, 1934, the son of Charles Lee and Elva Clark (Kelso) Shouse. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Henderson on April 3, 1960 in Bethel, Missouri. She survives.

He is survived by two children, David Shouse and wife Nancy of Holts Summit, Missouri, and Lisa Schmucker of De Soto, Kansas; four grandchildren, Kinsey Shouse, Alyssa Shouse, Drew Schmucker, and Annie Schmucker; one sister, Maureta Smoot of Bethel, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, W.L. Shouse, and two infant siblings; and one son-in-law, Ron Schmucker.

Donald was a graduate of Bethel High School. He served his country in Germany with the United States Army. He was an Elder of the Bethel Christian Church. He also served on the North Shelby School Board, was treasurer of the Hebron Cemetery, and was a member to the American Legion Post 376 of Shelbina, Missouri. For 27 years, he served on the Lewis County REC board of directors. Donald enjoyed farming his whole life, art, hand lettering signs, traveling, and camping. He was the Chief Doughnut Fryer for Das Bakery in Bethel. Most of all, he loved his God and his family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at the Bethel Christian Church in Bethel, Missouri, with burial to follow at the Pleasant Prairie Cemetery, north of Bethel. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 pm on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at the Bethel Christian Church. Memorials may be made to the Bethel Christian Church, the Hebron Cemetery, or the Bethel German Colony.
