William "Bill" Eugene Miller September 30, 1934 - April 16, 2018

William “Bill” Eugene Miller, 83 of Etowah, North Carolina, formerly of Kirksville, Missouri passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 in Mills River, North Carolina.

The son of William Hosea and Gladys Irene (Rummerfield) Miller, he was born on September 30, 1934 in Willmathsville, Missouri. On July 17, 1954 at the home of Reverend Faye Black in Memphis, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Clara Faye Jackson and to this union four children were born, Steven, Stanley, Douglas and Karen.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Clara Faye Miller of Etowah, North Carolina; four children, Steven Miller and wife, Kathy of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Stanley Miller and wife, Stephenie of Falcon, Colorado, Douglas Miller and wife, Terri of Windsor, Colorado and Karen Burns and husband, Patrick of Hendersonville, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren, Trisha Adkins and husband, Sven of Commerce City, Colorado, Myriah Kemp and husband, Chris of Burleson, Texas, Alex Miller and wife, Tasha of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ross Miller of Vail, Colorado, Savannah Wedler and husband, Charlie of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Scott Miller of Loveland, Colorado, Tara Doak and husband, Kyle of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Cory Miller and special friend, Adrienne of Loveland, Colorado, Eric Burns of Aurora, Colorado and Keith Burns of Ogden, Utah; six great grandchildren and expecting two more this year; one sister, Linda Moore and husband, Mearl “Brick” of Bloomfield, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.

William “Bill” is preceded in death by his parents; one niece, Deborah Jackson; three nephews, Luther Cline, John Lewis and Kent Wray; one sister-in-law, Ina Mae Lewis and husband, Quentin and two brothers-in-law, Jim Wray and Vernon Lee Jackson.

Bill was baptized into the First Christian Church in Republic, Missouri on January 23, 1994 and later transferring his membership to the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri.

Early on, Bill had numerous jobs and eventually became an over the road truck driver for several years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, camping and squirrel watching!

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri with Larry Smith, Pastor of the Downing Christian Church officiating. Music will be special CD selections of “Six Days On The Road”, “Amazing Grace” and “I’ll Fly Away”. Pallbearers will be Scott Miller, Cory Miller, Ross Miller, Eric Burns, Keith Burns and Sven Adkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Tara Doak, Kyle Doak, Trisha Adkins, Myriah Kemp, Chris Kemp, Savannah Wedler, Charlie Wedler, Adrienne Wright, Tasha Miller and Alex Miller. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri. Memorials contributions have been established for the Downing Christian Church or to the Downing City Cemetery. Burial will be in the Downing City Cemetery in Downing, Missouri.
