Carl "Leon" Jeffries October 2, 1928 - April 14, 2018

Carl Leon Jeffries, 89, of Greentop, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

Born in Palisade, Nebraska, the son of the late Carl Alvin and Edith Matilda (Peterson) Jeffries, Leon was proud of the fact that he would have been 90 years old this year on October 2nd of this year. On January 9, 1953 in Pocahontas, Arkansas, Leon was united in marriage to Beth Hutchinson who preceded him in death on April 14, 2012. He was also preceded in death by one sister and her husband, Leora and Glen Sandefur.

Leon is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Becky Jeffries of Queen City, MO; one son Randy Jeffries of Greentop, MO; three daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Scott Holt of Newark, AR; Pat and Scott Meredith of Kirksville, MO, Candy and Mike Walsh of St. James, MO, and ten grandchildren, Adam, Nancy, Josh, Levi, Annah, Aaron, Nick, Sarah, Coty, and Cory; nine great-grandchildren, as well as a number of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Leon was a graduate from Kirksville High School with the Class of 1947. He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army. Leon row cropped and raised dairy cattle for a number of years before working in carpentry and construction until retiring. He loved wood working and being with his family and friends.

Leon's wish was to be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.
