Oneta Purdy

Oneta Purdy, age 92, of Shelbina, MO, passed away Monday, May 18, 2015, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO.

She was born May 10, 1923, in Monroe County, MO, the daughter of Clarence and Carrie Belle Greeves Huff. On January 5, 1946, she was united in marriage to Leonard Purdy. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1989.

Oneta is survived by three children, Rev. Lynn Purdy and wife Nancy of Lakenan, MO, Linda von Thun and husband Steve of Shelbyville, MO and Benita Jackson and husband Gary of Shelbina, MO; one son-in-law, Russell Wilt of Macon, MO; twelve grandchildren, Tuesdee Dawkins, Rob Wilt, Rusty Wilt, Tonya Robertson, Tammy Mann, Corey Purdy, Dawn Pfanner, Lonnie von Thun, Clinton Jackson, Curtis Jackson, Shelton Jackson and Felicia Higbee; twenty-eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, LaDuska Wilt; three brothers, Loren, Elmo and Kenneth Huff and one sister, Berneice Mayfield.

She was a graduate of Shelbina High School and a member of the Lakewood Union Chapel Church. She enjoyed crocheting. Oneta cherished the time she could spent with her family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO, with burial to follow in Shelbina Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Funeral Home in Shelbina. Memorials may be made to Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
