Pet of the Month-Bernie

December 10, 2017

The City of Macon Animal Shelter has a very friendly large breed male dog ready for adoption. "Bernie" appears to be a large breed mix, possibly St. Bernard and Akita. Bernie may be 9-12 months old and has been at the shelter approximately 3 weeks after being found running at large in town. He is mostly brown and white with a friendly disposition. Interested adoptive families should call to set an appointment to meet Bernie soon.

To adopt an animal from the Macon Animal Shelter, the first step is to schedule an appointment to meet the animal in person. Appointments can be made by calling for the Animal Control Officer at the Macon Police Department, 660-385-2195, and can generally be scheduled from 10am - 3pm through the week. The adoption process is simple and includes a nominal fee of $31.00 to cover cost of rabies vaccination, dog license (this fee only applies to adoptive families living inside the city limits), and a $10.00 donation is suggested to support the shelter's continuing operations. The adopting family must also agree to having their new pet spayed/neutered to help control the pet population.
